Energy Healing Balance Presence
here is a quiet intelligence in your body that modern life rarely gives us time to acknowledge. It knows when something is wrong before your mind does. It aches in places grief has settled, tightens where fear has lived for years, grows weary when you have given more than you have to give. At ReikiFlow, our work begins exactly here — with that intelligence, and the gentle practice of listening to it.
The word Reiki comes from Japanese: rei meaning universal, and ki meaning life energy. Together, they describe the animating force that flows through all living things. You have felt it — in the warm calm after deep laughter, in the strange peace of sitting near the ocean, in the way a loving touch can dissolve what no words could reach. Reiki is the practice of working with that energy, intentionally and with care.
"Reiki does not heal you. It creates the conditions in which you remember how to heal yourself."
The roots
Reiki as we practice it today was developed in early twentieth-century Japan by Mikao Usui, a spiritual teacher who spent years studying ancient healing texts before experiencing a profound awakening during a twenty-one day meditation retreat on Mount Kurama. What he brought back was not a religion, not a set of beliefs you must hold — but a method. A series of hand positions, a lineage of attunements, and five deceptively simple principles for living well.
Those principles — just for today, do not anger; do not worry; be humble; be honest; be compassionate to yourself and others — are not commandments. They are invitations to return, again and again, to the steadiness underneath the noise of ordinary life.
The energy centres
Reiki works in relationship with the body's energy centres, or chakras — seven primary points along the spine where physical, emotional, and spiritual currents converge. When these centres flow freely, we feel vital, clear, and at ease. When they become blocked — through stress, trauma, unexpressed emotion, or simple exhaustion — we feel the disruption in ways both obvious and subtle.

What a session feels like
People arrive at ReikiFlow for many different reasons. Some come because a doctor has managed their body but no one has helped them rest. Some come after grief, after diagnosis, after a season of relentless doing. Some come simply because they have a sense — quiet but persistent — that something is not quite right, and they want to find their way back to themselves.
A session with us is simple, and deeply restful. You lie fully clothed on a comfortable treatment table while your practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above the body, moving through a series of positions from head to feet. Most people feel warmth, tingling, or a pleasant heaviness — the sensation of something releasing its grip. Some fall into a state between waking and sleep. Almost everyone leaves feeling lighter than when they arrived.
A safe, quiet space where nothing is required of you
Gentle touch or near-body work — always with your full consent
A deep sense of relaxation, sometimes within minutes
Emotional releases that are held gently, never forced
A feeling of reconnection to your own body and breath
Integration that often continues in the hours and days that follow
Reiki does not promise to cure, and we will never claim otherwise. What ReikiFlow offers is something that has become quietly radical in the pace of modern life: an hour of complete, unhurried attention — for you, turned entirely inward.
That, it turns out, is often exactly what healing asks for first.
